Based on more than 20 years of global experience and partnerships with organisations across sectors, industries and cultures, these five elements provide a check-list for leaders experiencing or embarking on what we call Continuous Transformation – overarching business, leadership and culture.

The five aspects are in no particular order and interdependent. Although other factors can be important, we have identified these as being the most critical in achieving sustained business and people results – tangible and intangible. They are as follows:

Right Leadership
Leaders should be willing and able to provide clear purpose and direction – properly engaging the right people in a meaningful way whilst influencing and facilitating lasting change.

Clear and adaptable Business Focus
Clear strategic focus must be aligned to the longer-term business ambitions. Shifts in the plan can be easily made as the situation evolves, all in context of the higher organisational purpose.

Authentic Engagement
Co-creation is key to both the overall strategic direction and empowerment of the wider business. Senior leadership must be focused on the ‘why’ and ‘what’, with the wider leadership community focused on the ‘how’.

Effective execution approach
The right frameworks, tools and support are needed to successfully and effectively execute transformation while ensuring that BAU continues to be delivered, and progress continually built upon.

Demonstrations of actual change
Capturing and sharing all achievements, both big and small is critical. This will shift the focus of the business and give permission for things to be done differently – continually adapting as required.
